Opinion. Gran Via is a strong candidate for the title of "Noisiest
Street in the World". It is a major artery in a vibrant city that
never sleeps. Not so much a 24-hour traffic jam as a 24-hour Monaco Gran
Prix. Particularly grating are the mopeds and motorcycles without silencers
that continually traverse this city like 50-kilo mosquitos.
If you are offered a hotel on Gran Via, I suggest you find out about
the hotel's soundproofing or secure a room at the back or the side -
Editor.
Suggestion. The pedestrianised area around
Puerta del Sol is both conveniently situated and quiet.

in a quiet side-street such as Hotel
